Is the 'will-it won't it' deal for Derby County finally settled?

News that American entrepreneur Chris Kitchner has agreed to buy Derby County has to be our most talked about deal this week.

The businessman, who has made his name in software, will become the new owner at the end of May after months of discussions and obstacles to the sale.

Mr Kirchner has made it clear the deal is subject to former Rams owner Mel Morris selling the Pride Park stadium, which has not been part of the ongoing administration, but saw no reason why that wouldn't happen - read the full report here by Tom Pegden, our journalist in the East Midlands who has been closely following the story.

The sale of the club has been hailed by Derby County manager Wayne Rooney, who also features in another of the week's most followed stories - the so-called 'Wagatha Christie' trial of his wife Coleen, accused of libel by fellow footballer's-wife Rebekah Vardy after she publicly accused Vardy of leaking stories about her to The Sun.

Our North West editor reports on two Liverpool lawyers who are working with Coleen Rooney and her defence team. Read his story here.
