Here we go then! Advent calendars are up, and most likely open, by the time you are reading this - and that's just mine! While I'll be hoping door 18 has a solid gold delivery for the nation in the form of the World Cup - nice to add to the recent T20 cricket - the 43 of the 56 years of hurt tell me a little slab of chocolate would be a better expectation level to set. Maybe even a postage stamp-sized image of the nativity will teach my fan-boy naivety.
Now when it comes to opening doors professionally this past week, the business community was very welcoming of Shadow Energy Secretary Ed Miliband's stay on the Humber. A frank, open and honest roundtable chat with some of the key players in the estuary's decarbonisation dream was clearly of huge importance - he could well be contributing significantly at future cabinets given the near doubling of anticipated vote share, pollsters are predicting for his Labour party.
Ensuring the message is across government and opposition is vital, so to hear how barriers were explained and needs underlined following my interview with him, was very encouraging. It will hopefully resonate with Downing Street too.
He was barely back in his own constituency as Harbour Energy announced they were pushing on with their own plans for the Humber, as Viking CCS enters its statutory consultation period. I'm sure many of the voices that enjoyed Mr Miliband's ear will be backing this too. It is the South Bank strand of pipeline infrastructure for CO2 storage that brings cleaner refining, power generation and links to the emerging Immingham Green Energy Terminal. From here we could be looking at hydrogen production and carbon trading - importing others' emissions could be big business for UK Plc and the Humber particularly.
