This week saw not one, but two South West firms aquired by bigger outfits across The Channel.
On Wednesday, Plymouth crisps brand Burts Snacks announced it had been gobbled up by Europe Snacks, a Paris-headquarted multi-national producer of savoury snacks for third party brands.
Burts, which shifted £68m worh of crisps in its last financial year, said it will "remain committed" to its UK manufacturing sites in Devon and Leicester, where it employs around 350 people.

Bristol TV production studio acquired by French media giant | | And now to the second Franco-South West deal of the week.
Late on Tuesday, production company Wildseed Studios announced the children's TV division of French media giant Mediawan had taken a majortiy stake in the Bristol business.
Founded by the former head of broadcast at Wallace and Gromit creators Aardaman and a former boss at BBC Children's, Wildseed has made programmes for major networks and streaming platforms.
Its filmography includes The Last Bus on Netflix and the animated series Dodo, which has appeared on Sky Kids, CITV, Cartoon Network and HBO Max.
Managing director Miles Bullough recently told me for a special report on Bristol's thriving animation and TV industry that Brexit "has not helped" a sector-wide issue with recruitment.

More South West employers turn to school leavers to diversify talent pool | | | | It's National Apprentiship Week, and a new study had found employers in the South West are increasingly looking to apprenticeships to attract diverse, talented young people to their business.
A survey of business leaders in the region by law firm Grant Thornton found three quarters (75%) of respondents said that they hire more school leavers in their business now than before the pandemic.
