BJP Protest: The main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party demonstrated in Jaipur on Tuesday, demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the Rajasthan Teacher Recruitment Eligibility Test (REET) paper leak case. The police stopped BJP workers on the way, who had come to gherao the assembly and used water cannons to disperse them.
BJP state unit president Satish Poonia, deputy leader in the assembly Rajendra Rathod, MP Sumedhanand and many BJP office-bearers and workers made symbolic arrests. Party MLAs, MPs as well as party workers from all over the state participated in the protest.
Earlier, while addressing the workers outside the BJP headquarters, party's national general secretary and state in-charge Arun Singh said, "The Congress government in the state has completely failed. There is power failure in the state for development. Today Rajasthan is at number one in terms of atrocities against women.
He said, "This is the land of Maharana Pratap. Our youth have neither bowed nor bowed down.. will not tolerate the insult of Marudhara. This fight has to be carried forward. Every BJP worker will take this fight forward.
Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Gulabchand Kataria said that this battle will have to be fought till all the culprits are caught and put in jail. Poonia alleged that there was a big rigging in the REIT case. He said that till the time the matter is not investigated by the CBI, the BJP's protest will continue.
He said, "BJP forced the government both inside and outside the assembly and it (government) was forced to repeal REIT Level 2 and this in itself is a big proof that there is huge rigging in REET."
Poonia said that in Rajasthan, loan waiver of farmers, misdemeanor with the unemployed, crime, law and order, corruption is at such extreme that the government has no moral right to remain in power.
