What now for gigafactory plans?

Story 1

Any round-up of the week in North East business has to start with a look at the Britishvolt story.

The company's collapse into administration on Tuesday had been a long time coming, but that didn't make it any less devastating. The project had promised up to 8,000 direct and indirect jobs, and would have put the North East at the head of net zero transport revolution.

The days since have seen a mixture of recrimination over why the project failed and hope that it can be revived. Northumberland County Council has revealed that it has an option to buy back the site, and added that it had already had two expressions of interest in what is widely thought to be the best site for a gigafactory in the UK.

In this piece we look at what has been a strange saga from start to finish, and ask where now for the gigafactory plans?
