More time for North East Fund | | It has backed hundreds of North East companies, helped create around 2,000 jobs and brought around £300m into the regional economy.
But the North East Fund had been due to close at the end of March, leaving a potential scarcity of funding for companies in the region.
But now it has been announced that the fund has been extended into next year, with an extra £10m available to help companies grow. North East Fund chief executive Jason Hobbs said: "Over £30m of returns have been generated to date, and this means that we expect to be able to continue investing into 2024 and beyond, after the European Regional Development Fund has come to an end."

100 new jobs at pharma plant | | A recruitment drive to fill up to 100 new jobs has been launched at a Northumberland pharma firm, following on from recent £6.3m expansion plans.
Drug development and manufacturing accelerator Quotient Sciences expanded into the North East in 2021 when it acquired the Alnwick base from Arcinova in an undisclosed deal. The company, which provides drug substance, drug product and bioanalysis services to more than 200 pharma and biotech customers worldwide, launched multimillion-pound investment plans to expand its manufacturing operations at the site, which created an additional 80 to 100 new scientific and technical jobs at the facility.
