Karnataka cabinet expansion: 24 legislators to take oath as ministers today
A week after assuming power in Karnataka, the Congress on Friday released a list of 24 legislators who will be sworn in as ministers on May 27, according to party leaders. The Karnataka government can have 34 ministers. Ten of them, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his deputy D K Shivakumar, were sworn in on May 20.

UP: Police file first charge sheet in Umesh Pal murder case
The police filed its first charge sheet in the murder of lawyer Umesh Pal and his two police gunners against Sadaqat Khan, naming him as a conspirator, at a local court in Prayagraj on Friday. "As the judicial custody period, known as 'nyayik abhiraksha awadhi of 90 days is ending on May 27, 2023, we submitted a 1,857-page (including attachments) charge sheet against Sadaqat Khan in connection with the case registered under section 147, 148, 149, 302, 307, 506, 34 and 120B of IPC, section 3 of Explosive Act, 7 CLA Act and 3 (2) V SC/ST Act," said an officer.
