UPSC Assistant Commandant Syllabus 2013 - 2014 | UPSC CPF (AC) Study material , Old Paper

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will be conducting examination for  Assistant Commandant in CPF on 20th Oct, 2013.  Candidates who have applied for the same should gear up towards studying and clearing the exam with flying colors. Syllabus for the examination is as follows :-

Paper I would be General Ability and Intelligence and would be of 250 Marks. This paper will have multiple choice questions and will cover following subjects.

1. General Mental Ability:  questions in this section will test the applicant’s knowledge in logical reasoning and quantitative aptitude. It will also include questions pertaining to numerical ability, and data interpretation.

2. General Science : The questions  in this section will be based on general awareness, Comprehension and appreciation of scientific phenomena of everyday Observation ,scientific temper, new areas of importance likes Information Technology, Biotechnology, Environmental Science.

3. Current Events of National and International Importance: The questions will test the applicant’s knowledge about  current events of national and international importance. Events would be related to  areas like Sports, culture, music, arts, literature, Globalization, and relationship among nations, governance of different nations, society and developmental issues, industry and business

4. Indian Politics and Economy
: This section will test applicant’s awareness about country’s constitution economical and political scenario and inferences. It will have questions pertaining to public administration, regional issues, international security issues, constitutional rights, social systems etc.

5. History of India : This section will cover social, political and economic aspects Of Indian history and heritage.

6. Geography:
  This section will test applicant’s awareness about socio-economic, physical and geographical aspects of India and rest of the world.

Paper II of this examination will be based on General Studies,  Comprehension and Essay writing. It will be of  - 200 Marks in total 
  • Part-A :  this section will total 80 marks and applicants are expected to write descriptive answers in Hindi or English. Areas for this section would include India’s struggle for freedom. Economics, recent political events, awareness about human rights and security issues. It will also cover areas pertaining to geography and analytical skills. Answers to this section should be in narrative format.
  • Part-B  of the paper has questions of 120 marks. This section has to be answered compulsorily in English only. It will assess candidates ability to  write a précis, handle comprehension, and language skills and business communication. Questions in this section would be based on developing counter arguments, language and grammar skills, précis development and comprehension passages.
